Our Top 10 Panama City Beach Recommendations

Here are our favourite things to see and do in Panama City Beach.
Some are well know, some not so well known. Have a look around as we have included photos, videos, information and links.
They are in no particular order.

1. Pier Park

 Pier Park, located by some of the world’s most beautiful beaches. Among the 124 stores, you will find casual and upscale shopping and dining,  movies at the Grand IMAX Theater, entertainment and live music.

Pier Park is a booming hot spot and shopping area, just a few blocks off the beach. Very colorful and quirky. It’s offering shopping, dining, pub, amusement park, movie, and snack. This is a place to visit at sun up or sundown.

Pier Park have pubs like Margaritaville, Tootsie Orchid Lounge, and HB from Germany. There are many restaurants to choose including the area behind the mall next to Dillard. Shopping include various discount in JC Penny. If you have children or teenagers, Pier Park have two different parks due to the age. Pier Park Amusement is for smaller kids and the Miracle Strip is for teenagers or 48 inches minimum height. 

Pier Park is a must see to check out when in the area. There’s something for everyone and every age.

2. St. Andrews State Park

Watch as Erika and her cousin Nina explore St. Andrews State Park in Panama City Beach, Florida. Along with a beach and bayside campground, this park features many different wildlife to see. Erika searches for birds while Nina has alligators on the brain. Will they find what they’re looking for?

St. Andrews State Park is a 1,200-acre (4.9 km2) Florida State Park located three miles (5 km) east of Panama City Beach.

The park has such amenities as two-and-a-half miles of beaches, bicycling, birding, boat tours, boating, canoeing, two fishing piers, hiking, kayaking, picnicking areas, scuba diving, snorkeling, swimming, wildlife viewing and full camping facilities. During the summer, camping reservations are recommended for best availability. It also has a visitor center, an interpretive exhibit and concessions.

Take a hike on The Gator Lake Trail and Overlook that provides visitors with a beautiful vantage point for spotting alligators and a variety of waterfowl, wading birds and other small animals. At Button Bush Marsh Overlook, a host of birds can be viewed. Herons and ibis feed along the fertile marsh edge as a variety of waterfowl swim and feed in the depths. Throughout the interior of the park you will see raccoon and white tail deer.

3. Gulf World Marine Park

How would you like to be a trainer for a day? The perfect experience for the ultimate animal lover. You’ll shadow our Gulf World trainers all day and go behind the scenes to work with our ocean ambassadors. Or how about a fast and exciting ride with the dolphin while you hold onto their pectoral fins; in the magnificent belly-ride. You will have the opportunity to interact with dolphins like you’ve never imagined.

Gulf World Marine Institute, Inc. (GWMI) is an established nonprofit business working in connection with its commercial partner, Gulf World Marine Park, Inc.  Over many years, Gulf World has provided the Florida Panhandle coastal region a variety of public services through its facilities and by its staff in leading efforts toward the three GWMI core programs, which are

1) to lead, assist and manage the recovery and rehabilitation of stranded, sick or injured marine mammals and sea turtles, 2) to serve as an environmental educational tool for the local and national community, and 3) to help facilitate marine and oceanographic research on a local and national level. 

Like other commercial marine entertainment venues, Gulf World Marine Park, Inc. is supporting the establishment of Gulf World Marine Institute, Inc. to further extend and enhance the widely recognized work its oceans and its sea life inhabitants.

4. Deep sea fishing with Captain Larry

The wonderful thing about fishing in Panama City Beach and deep sea fishing in The Gulf of Mexico is you never know what the trip may hold!

Deep Sea Fishing

Florida has some of the best deep sea fishing in the world and we catch the big fish: Grouper, Red Snapper, Mahi, Amberjack, Trigger, Mackerel, Cobia, Wahoo, Tuna, Just to name a few!

You may catch a big grouper,  a mess of red snapper, a black fin tuna or sail fish. Whether you are a professional angler or first time fisherman or fisher-woman, you’ll always have the best time with us.
We are conveniently located at Treasure Island Marina, 3605 Thomas Drive, Panama City Beach, Florida right across The Historic Grand Lagoon Bridge from Captain Anderson’s Restaurant with plenty of secure parking.

5. Frank Brown Park Sports Complex

Whether you’re a sports fanatic or enjoy fishing, you’ll be just a few steps away from anything here. For the avid fisherman you will find both a saltwater fishing pier as well as a freshwater youth fishing lake for the kids to enjoy. After a relaxing day spent fishing, there are also plenty of picnic areas to take a break at and enjoy a delicious brown bag lunch.

And for the children there will be  an Olympic-Sized (and heated) swimming pool, a seasonal 5,000 square foot Kids Pool, as well as a water playground designed for children. 

Frank Brown Park is a 200-acre (0.81 km2) outdoor recreation facility in Panama City Beach, Florida. The park hosts various sporting events throughout the year, and has facilities available for public use.

The park includes nine softball fields, two tee ball fields, three soccer fields, four multi-purpose football fields, four tennis courts, two outdoor basketball courts, two shuffleboard courts, one indoor gym, one playground, one large group picnic pavilion, one Freshwater Youth Fishing pond, one 22-acre (89,000 m2) festival site, one fenced dog play area, one aquatic center and 1.5 miles (2.4 km) of greenways and trails.

6. Pirates Island Adventure Golf

A good day out. Challenge yourself or your children with the really fun courses at Pirates Island Adventure Golf. Lots of pirate history for girls and boys, plus explanations of the flora and fauna. Good pirate music playing and plenty of family photo/selfie opportunity. It’s fun with lots of water hazards.

7. Shell Island

Shell Island Panama City Beach is known for its pristine white sand and beautiful scenery. With all its natural, untouched beauty, this place gives you the feeling of being on a beautiful deserted island.
And yet you may be accompanied by the bottlenose dolphins that can be seen from the shoreline most days.

8. Shipwreck Island Water Park

If you like having fun in the water, you’ve found your perfect place on Panama City Beach. The waterpark has entertained millions of visitors and residents for over thirty-five years, and with over three-million gallons of water tipping, raging, zooming, splashing, and meandering, we really are the home for Family FUN on Panama City Beach.

The Great Shipwreck is a replica of a 17th century sailing ship that ran aground many years ago, right here at Shipwreck Island.  Guests swing out from the ship on a cable and drop into a beautiful azure blue lagoon pool.

Shipwreck Island Waterpark opened in the summer of 1983. The tropical theme waterpark is filled with attractions and food and beverage outlets to bring smiles to every member of your family. 9. Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum

The only place in Panama City Beach where you’ll find shrunken heads, sculptures made of scrap car parts, an authentic vampire killing kit, one-of-a-kind artwork, tons of hands-on interactives, and a wicked floating fiat car! You’ll have a great time, and it’s fun for all ages!

The Ripley’s Oddtiorium is a self-guided walking tour that includes several galleries and three floors.  There are animal and human oddities, a Titanic, Asian, and several other cultural galleries.  There are several art portraits created from unique items such as jade, camel bone, ketchup, motor oil, postage stamps, etc.  The tour is self-guided so it can last from 45 to 90 minutes.  There is a really fun slide for kids too that includes a crawl space where even parents can enjoy the play time with their kids!  Dance in the bodies in motion exhibit so you can show your moves and get your picture next to the life-size figure of the World’s Tallest Man.

Ripley’s 7D Moving Theater takes you on an amazing, interactive journey. Find the way out of our Mirror Maze! Wind your way through the Lasers Race!
